Finance Minister Dr Ram Saran Mahat said today that civil servants’ tendency to work for the sake of salary was to blame for the underdevelopment of the nation.

Addressing the 10th Anniversary of Dhulikhel Hospital and sixth convocation of Dhulikhel Medical Institute in Dhulikhel, Dr Mahat said: “Civil servants can make the nation prosperous by taking the task of government as their own.” Though the number of government officials has increased in the fields of education and health, there is no improvement in quality of services delivered, he said.

“More students will clear their exams if teachers provide quality education,” said Dr Mahat. Dr Mahat urged the private sector to focus on producing manpower required in the health sector.
