Kirat bodies’ demands

Kathmandu, November 10:

Representatives of nine Kirant organisations led by former minister Bal Bahadur Rai on Friday met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at his official residence in Baluwatar and handed him a demand letter.

The representatives urged him to enlist 22 different Kirant languages into the indigenous group that have their own distinct cultural characteristics.

“These indigenous groups should be considered while restructuring the state or else they will be again not be able to take part in the affairs of the state,” the letter sated.

The Nepal Kirant Kulung Bhasa Sanskritik Uththan Sangh, Thulung Sama, Bahing Kirant Mulukhim, Lohorung Yakhkha Yuyong, Kirant Radu Nachhiring Sakham, Kirant Yamphu Samaj, Chinhalamatung Bantawa Kirawa Yuwahup Nepal and the Sang Kirant Samaj are among the organisations making the demands.
