Itahari, November 25:
Central member of the NC-D and State Minister for Water Resources Gyanendra Karki today said that as long as Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala goes on harping about his predilection for a ceremonial kingship, unification of the Nepali Congress and NC-D will not be possible.
Addressing party activists of Sunsari constituency number-3 at Kaptangunj today, Karki said: “The unification is impossible as the NC has not recanted from its pro-ceremonial kingship stance. On the other hand, NC-D favours a republic.”
Speaking on the occasion, MP Laxman Mahato, NC-D leaders Gehendra Giri and Bijay Kumar Gacchadar urged Koirala to make possible the Congresses’ unification.
Meanwhile, Karki said the government is studying the Arun-III hydro electricity project to cater to the eastern region’s demand for electricity.
