Surkhet, November 28:

Although the Maoists’ PLA cadres are bound to live in main and sub cantonment sites by November 21 as per the peace treaty between the government and Maoists, they are

taking shelter in locals’ houses till today.

Over 5,000 PLA cadres are living in locals’ houses as the main cantonment site in Dashrathpur is not ready yet. Same is true with the sub-cantonment sites in Kalyan, Lekhfarsa and Gamkhola in the absence of physical infrastructure.

A week has passed by to live in the cantonment sites, but no construction works for physical infrastructure has begun there.

The Maoists’ 6th division commander Tej Prakash Oli, alias Pratik, said the PLA cadres could not yet be brought into cantonment sites due to the lack of basic physical facilities. “Funds have not been received on time, delaying construction of infrastructure,” he said. The proposed main and sub cantonment sites will each house 5,500 PLA cadres, he added.
