Chinese exports jump
BEIJING: Booming exports helped China’s industrial output pick up slightly in November after it hit the lowest growth rate for the year in October, official data showed Wednesday. Industrial output, a key measure of the temperature of the world’s fourth-largest economy, grew 14.9 per cent last month compared with a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics said. In the first 11 months of the year, industrial production rose 16.8 per cent compared with the same period in 2005, according to an NBS statement. — AFP
Hyundai’s sole dealer
KATHMANDU: AVCO International (P) Ltd has been appointed as the sole distributor of Hyundai four-wheelers in Nepal, which is being imported from Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), Korea and Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HML), India, says a company news release. AVCO has extensive dealer network with seven dealers in Nepal. In line with the on-going aggressive marketing strategies to provide more quality services to customers, AVCO International has now appointed Deep Laxmi Inter-continental as its new authorised dealer for sales and marketing of Hyundai vehicles for Kathmandu. — HNS
Trucks stranded
BHADRAPUR: Three-dozen Nepali trucks heading for Bangladesh carrying old machine parts from Birgunj have been stopped by Indian Customs at the Fulbari Entry Point. The trucks have been stranded at Mechi bridge from Monday. Though the Pani Tanki Customs Office of India had granted permission to the trucks, the Fulbari Customs Office created obstructions, said drivers of the stranded trucks. The trucks had departed from Birgunj carrying goods worth of millions of rupees some 20 days ago for Bangladesh.— RSS
