Dhading, May 17:
Gangs of dacoits, donning masks and yielding khukuris, have been looting people in several villages of the Dhading district. These dacoits, who identify themselves as the Maoists, have robbed many women of their jewelleries. The people of Jeewanpur, Kebalpur and Bhoomesthan VDCs have been looted time and again. Security situation has worsened so much that these dacoits, shouting Maoist slogans, do not hesitate to loot the people even during broad daylight.
Village security committees, which were set up to put an end to the looting spree, have failed to make the people feel secure. Last year too, some dacoits, resorting to similar tactics, had looted many people in Mahadevbeshi. Such activities came under control after the locals captured and handed over the dacoits to the Maoists. While the people say they are reeling under insecurity, the district administration expressed its ignorance over it. When contacted, the CDO of Dhadhing, Jeewan Prasad Balli, said he had no knowledge about the reports of rampant looting.
