Entrepreneurs urge new economic policy

Kathmandu, January 1 :
Entrepreneurs have asked the government to introduce a new economic policy to boost the country’s trade and economy. They also said that the policy should be adopted after the promulgation of the interim constitution Chandi Raj Dhakal, president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), while inaugurating the second Panchthar Trade Fair yesterday, underscored the need of a new policy for a paradigm shift in the economic development. He also said that the economic development is not possible in absence of concrete policy, which could have a negative impact on security of domestic capital. “Nepali private sector has already taken initiatives towards economic transformation of the country,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kush Kumar Joshi, second vice-president of FNCCI, while inaugurating the eighth annual general meeting of Ratnanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), also emphasised on the need of policy to create conducive environment for trade, commerce and industrial activities.
“We need to change our attitude as well as policy in order to bring changes in the economic development that caters need of everyone,” he said, adding that the Nepali private sector has already started brainstorming to bring changes in course of building the New Nepal.
Joshi further said that the private sector has set a special economic agenda for New Nepal keeping poverty alleviation as its top agenda for economic development. He urged businessmen and entrepreneurs to join hands in making New Nepal through economic revolution.
Ramesh Kumar Piya, FNCCI member, Deepak Kumar Shrestha, president of Makwanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Uday Kumar Shrestha, president of Narayangarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) and representatives of various political parties also expressed their views on the occasion.
