If Chelsea manages to overtake Manchester United and win its third straight Premier League title, the team will have Arsenal to thank for it. Thierry Henry’s injury-time goal gave Arsenal a 2-1 win over United on Sunday, keeping second-place Chelsea firmly in the title race — a position the Blues might not have imagined after its 2-0 loss at Liverpool on Saturday.

United leads the league with 60 points, six more than Chelsea. Liverpool is third with 46 points, followed by Arsenal with 45.

United controlled the match and was rewarded in the 53rd when Wayne Rooney scored give the Red Devils the lead. But in the 83rd Robin van Persie scored his 11th goal of the season to level the score.

Everton handed Wigan its seventh straight loss, getting two goals from Mikel Arteta in a 2-0 win. Arteta scored his first goal from the penalty spot in the 65th minute, earned when Wigan defender David Unsworth fouled Victor Anichebe. Arteta scored the other in injury time.

La Liga

MADRID: FC Barcelona reclaimed first place in the Spanish league after beating last-place Gimnastic Tarragona 3-0 on goals from Javier Saviola, Ludovic Giuly and Andres Iniesta.

The win moved the defending champions above Sevilla on goal difference. Sevilla had held first place since December 17. Real Madrid beat Mallorca 1-0 courtesy of Jose Antonio Reyes’ 78th-minute goal and moved level on points with Barcelona and Sevilla but behind on goal difference.

Also, David Villa scored his 10th goal of the season to help Valencia beat Real Sociedad 1-0 and move two points off the lead. Barcelona, Sevilla and Madrid each have 38 points, although Barcelona has a game in hand — a visit to Betis next Wednesday. Valencia has 36 points, one more than Atletico Madrid.
