Lekhak Delhi-bound

KATHMANDU: The Prime Minister has assigned Minister of State for General Administration Dharmanath Prasad Shaha to look after the Ministry of Labour and Transport Management in the absence of the Minister of State Ramesh Lekhak. Lekhak left for New Delhi on Thursday on a visit, said the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. — RSS

Budget frozen

MADHYAPUR THIMI: Budget amounting to tens of millions of rupees and meant for Sirutar, Balkot, Changu, Jhaukhel, Duwakot, Nagarkot, Chhaling, Sudal, Tathali, Sipadol, Katunje, Gundu, Nakhel and Chittapol VDCs has frozen as the village council could not be held in 14 out of the 16 VDCs of Bhaktapur district, VDC secretaries said. The council meetings were not held because of Maoist obstruction, and now efforts are being made in this regard through meetings between the Maoists, SPA and the RPP, a secretary said. — RSS

IT centre set up

BHAKTAPUR: An Information Technology Centre has been set up in the Jorpati Higher Secondary School with assistance from a Korean organisation, Koika. Inaugurating the centre on Friday, District Education Officer Rajya Laxmi Nakarmi shed light on the importance of information technology in the 21st century and stressed that schools should introduce relevant education on the same. Speaking at the programme, representative of Koika, Allen Tuladhar, said such centres have been set up in 10 schools as a pilot project to materialise the theme of ‘One House One Computer Literate Member.’ — RSS

Injured return home

KATHMANDU: Five persons who were injured in the Lahan incident in Siraha have returned home after treatment at the Birendra Hospital at Chhauni. Manoj Kumar Saha, 28, Nanda Kumar Khetan, 21, Sheikh Jamaluddin, 31, Manoj Kumar Saha, 13, and Bishnu Dev Raya, 40 are currently with the Nepal Police, who will take them to their hometowns, the Military Liaison Directorate said. Other four are undergoing treatment. — RSS
