They are committed to make a mark in the field of classical music; their passion for music and dedication for its development is remarkable. The Kirateshor Sangeet Ashram has been involved in promoting and preserving classical music, and its 15th annual function was celebrated on February 2 at the Kirateshor temple premises.

On the very occasion, awards were presented to the winners of the 14th annual Children’s Classical Music Competition. Along with that, the Kirateshor Padma Priya Hari Priya Regmi Yuva Purashkar and Sangeet Ashram Purashkar were also presented.

The Kirateshor Padma Priya Hari Priya Regmi Purashkar Yuva was presented to Suresh Raj Bajracharya and Sangeet Ashram Purashkar was given to Dhan Bahadur Gopali.

All together 34 children had participated in the Children’s Classical Music Competition in three categories — Tabla badan, Sur badan and Sastriya gayan. As only two participants had entered for Sur badan, so both Ritesh Chandra Regmi on sitar and Sabin Shakya on basuri were presented with the consolation prize. In the Shastriya gayan, Sheetal Thapa (Consolation), Priyansha Acharya (third prize), Archana Bista (second prize) and Sadhana Shrestha (first prize) were the winners, while in the Tabala badan the winners were Prabigya Acharya (consolation), Ashesh Rai (third prize), Biraj Pokharel (second prize) and Pratik Satyal (first prize).

The youngest participant was Prabigya Acharya, six, who played tabla for the crowd and won everyone’s heart with his flawless performance.

The event ended with all winners performing for the audience.
