Siraha, February 7:
The agitating Terai outfits staged demonstrations in different parts of Siraha district today as well. Activists of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) and Janamorcha Nepal staged separate demonstrations in Lahan.
Addressing a meeting, central chairman of Janamorcha-affiliated Revolutionary Madhesi Morcha (RMM), Ram Rijhan Yadav, said: “The eight parties should reach a consensus to solve the Terai unrest at the earliest. The large parties should change their outdated mentality, too.”
A rickshaw rally was staged under the leadership of Siraha secretary of the Nepali Congress-Democratic Upendra Yadav. Demonstrators staged a rally carrying an effigy of the PM.
Meanwhile, MJF central member Chandreshwor Yadav warned that the country would be “divided into two if the Nepali Army or other security wings are mobilised” to suppress the ongoing Madhesi movement. Issuing a statement, Yadav said: “No force can stop Nepal from getting divided into two parts if the government mobilises the army or security forces to suppress the peaceful movement launched by the MJF.”
Meanwhile, Abdulla Rain, Siraha president of the NC-D-affiliated NSU, resigned from his post and the party, saying that the government was not taking the demands of the Madhesis seriously.
