Tanahun, February 8:
Student organisations affiliated to the eight political parties today chased away leaders and cadres of the Rastriya Janashakti Party from a programme venue.
The students intervened when the party’s first Byas city convention was going on in Damauli at around 1:00 pm. The Nepal Students’ Union, Nepal Students’ Union-D, ANNFSU, ANNFSU (Unified), ANNISU (R ) cadres tarred the face of central guest member of the RJP Narendra Raj Wagle on the dais.
Nearly 150 students swarmed the dais and chanted anti-monarchy slogans. The ANNFSU district president Ramesh Acharya said the RJP men were chased away for playing a game to revive monarchy.
ANNFSU-Unified district president Bhanu Bhakta Pokhrel said RJP cadres were chased away and some of them had their faces tarred as the party is engaged in trying to make the king active again. When RJP leader Wagle was contacted for comments, he said his face was tarred and that he was manhandled. He said the incident was regrettable and against the interests of the nation and the people.
