Dailekh, February 19:

Only one teacher is running the Kalika Primary School in Bedugaun of Khadkawada VDC since the past several months.

Of the three teachers in the school, the headmaster Krishna Prasad Sharma had gone to the district headquarters for administrative works and has not returned yet and another teacher Prem Bahadur Pun is away for a teachers’ training.

Now the school with some 200 students is run by teacher Dhani Ram Thapa only.

“It is a Herculean task, trying to run all the classes (from grade 1 to 5) alone,” Thapa said.

“We cannot appoint a new teacher due to lack of funds,” Ujjwol Singh Roka Magar, chairman of the school management committee said.
