Kathmandu, February 25:

The first national conference of the Youth Social Workers 2007 is going to be held here on February 27 with an aim to build a national network between students and the colleges offering courses on social work. The Department of Social Work of the K and K College is coordinating the two-day conference.

“The conference is being organised with a view to identifying the need of bringing youths together for efficient societal development,” said Suman Shrestha, academic director of the college.

The conference will include participation of over 150 social work students and incorporate art exhibition and discussion on contemporary issues, including role of youths in peace-building and in constituent assembly polls.

Silendra Rai, media coordinator, expressed the hope that the meet would not only help bring youth social workers together, but also maintain solidarity between the colleges teaching social work.
