Kathmandu, March 1:

The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) today condemned acts of threating and misbehaving with journalists and has urged everyone to respect the freedom of the Press.

In a press release today, the FNJ also urged all concerned not to pressurise journalists to publish news. Journalist Roshan Neupane was threatened by a group of people who were picketing during a strike on February 28 at Nawalpur in Sarlahi.

“Neupane was taking photographs of a clash between locals and the strike organisers when the latter threatened him against publishing the matter,” the statement said. The statement said the group followed Neupane to his home and surrounded it and threatened to set the house on fire if the photographs were published. Locals came to help Neupane.

The same group is also learnt to have threatened other journalists in the region not to publish the news about the clash.
