SAARC to endorse SAU plan

Kathmandu, March 24:
The 14th South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) Summit, starting from April 3 in New Delhi, is going to endorse the decision of establishing a South Asian University (SAU) within the next two years.
The SAARC summit will sign the proposal forwarded by India, for the establishment of the SAU under the condition that the framework of the SAU will be completed within a year, an official at the SAARC secretariat, requesting anonymity, said, adding that India will cover the preliminary expenditure.
Prof Dr Kamal Krishna Joshi, chairman of the University Grant Commission, said the postgraduate classes of the SAU will be conducted in India, while the undergraduate classes will be conducted in SAARC countries.
