Attack bid on MP

Banke: An attempt to carry out an attack on a Maoist MP, Parmananda Verma, was made on Friday night at his house at Sonpur VDC-2 in Banke district. Looking for MP Verma, an armed group entered Verma’s house. As the MP was not in the house, they took his son Santosh under control for about two hours. The group set fire to a motorcycle belonging to MP Verma. Any untoward incident was averted as locals retaliated and police arrived on time, the MP said. — RSS

AIDS-related deaths

Tanahun: Fifty people have died of AIDS in Tanahun since the beginning of fiscal year 2006/07, according to the Tanahun Help Group, an organisation working for HIV-infected. — RSS
