Kathmandu, March 31:
A head constable of the Armed Police Force (APF), Rajendra Oli, is absconding after murdering his daughters, police said today, adding that Oli also tried to murder his wife.
Oli tried to murder her on the banks of the Syuchatar stream on Thursday, police said.
“Bodies of the two daughters — Rekha and Uma — were found yesterday in a bush near the banks of the Syuchatar stream. Launching an investigation on the basis of a statement given by Sunita, the wife of Oli, we came to know that APF head constable Rajendra Oli murdered his two daughters and attempted to kill Sunita,” Deputy Superintendent of Police of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati, Suresh Bikram Shah, said. “We have collected evidence to prove that Rajendra murdered his daughters.”
Police rescued Sunita on Thursday. She is undergoing treatment at the Bir Hospital.
According to police, Sunita, accompanied by two of her daughters, arrived in the capital from Bardiya on Thursday. “Rajendra took them to Syuchatar in the name of renting apartments,” the police said.
Some weeks ago, Oli married for the second time to an APF constable, Sangita Shrestha.
“Oli is not attending office since Friday. He has been absconding. We have taken Sangita into custody for interrogation,” Shah said, adding that an investigation into the case is underway.
