Four killed in mishap

DHANGADHI: Four persons died and 62 were injured when a tractor met with an accident at Chisapani on the Mehendra Highway at 12 noon on Friday. People returning home after cremating Dharmaraj Dhamala of Baliya VDC in the Karnali River were on board the tractor, the Kailali District Police Office said. Police identified the dead as Sher Bahadur Dangi, Godare Jaisi, Nayaram Jaisi and Sampatti Jaisi of Baliya VDC. The injured are undergoing treatment in the Kohalpur Medical College, Nepalgunj Medical College and a clinic at Lamki in Kailali. — HNS

NC, NC-D meet

KATHMANDU: More than 10 Nepali Congress and Nepali Congress-Democratic leaders met on Friday to discuss what has been identified as “the emotional” unity of the party. Govinda Raj Joshi and Bijay Kumar Gacchedar, senior leaders of the NC and the NC-D, were among those who took part in the meeting that took place at the residence of NC-D leader Dr Narayan Khadka. NC central working committee member Sunil Bhandari said that the meeting was an important one and will be followed by more meetings as part of the effort to unite the parties. — HNS

Blasts in Malangwa

SARLAHI: An unidentified gang effected three explosions at the district headquarters, Malangwa, at 9:45 pm on Thursday night. Superintendent of Police at the Sarlahi district police office, Ghananda Bhatta, said the bombs exploded at the District Court, District Post Office and District Land Reforms Office at different times. The blasts, however, did not cause any damage, SP Bhatta said. — HNS

Power supply hit

TAPLEJUNG: Power generation at the 22-kilowatt Pawa Khola Mini Hydro-Electricity plant in Sawa village development committee, Taplejung district. The halt in power generation came after lightning struck the plant recently. The halt in power generation has affected some 224 households. The hydro electricity plant was built at a cost of Rs 33.28 lakh provided by the Rural Energy Development Programme (REDP). — HNS
