Lalitpur, April 19:
The outgoing president of the Monastery Management and Development Committee (MMDC), Dr Yula Sherpa, has accused some persons of resorting to character assassination.
Organising a press meet today, Sherpa said the charge levelled against him — that he had invited The Dalai Lama to Nepal — was a propaganda.
“Nonetheless, it will not be good to occupy the post and work for those who have plotted against me and to be under tremendous pressure all the time.”
“These charges were aimed at preventing me from carrying on with efforts aimed at promoting Buddhism in Nepal,” Dr Sherpa said.
Dr Sherpa said he had submitted his resignation on March 28.
The resignation was approved on April 15.
