Assistance pledged

KATHMANDU: The Bishal Group Limited has pledged an assistance of Rs 35,00,000 for the construction of a hospital in Bansabari, Morang district. Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel inaugurated the hospital recently. In a statement, the group said it will provide more funds if it is satisfied with services being provided by the hospital. — HNS

Hashish haul; 7 held

KATHMANDU: Police arrested seven persons with 50 kg of hashish from Nagdhunga on Friday. Inspector Jiban Shrestha identified the arrested as Sher Bahadur Thapa, 60, Krishna Bahadur Syangtan, 43, Lok Bahadur Ghalan, 39, Krishna Bahadur Mumba, 39, Saila Ghalan, 47, Uttam Tamang, 39, and Ruplal Tamang, 22. The seven are natives of Dhading. “They had packed the drugs in plastic bags and were caught when they were waiting for customers,” Shrestha said. — HNS

One found dead

LALITPUR: The body of a 40-year-old woman was found at Siraphat, Chapagaon-2, in Lalitpur on Friday morning, police said. Police suspected that someone might have raped Kali Tamang and murdered her. — HNS

Gun found

LALITPUR: A pistol was found abandoned at Kharibot, Balkumari, on Thursday, police said. Police said they received a call from locals saying they heard gunshots at Kharibot. “When we reached the spot, we found a used cartridge and one country-made pistol,” the police said. — HNS
