ISTU for fresh stir

Kathmandu: The Institutional School Teachers’ Union-Nepal (ISTU-N) is planning to launch protest programmes phase-II from May 13. In a statement on Friday, it said it will hold sit-in protests in front of the Education Ministry on May 13, at the Department of Education on May 14, at the Regional Education Directorate on May 15 and at the District Education Office on May 16. It said it would launch a nationwide indefinite shut down of institutional and community schools and higher secondary schools from May 17. — HNS

Arrest condemned

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal People’s Cultural Federation (ANPCF) has condemned the arrest of Lekali Khadka, a central member of the federation, by the Armed Police Force from Ghorahi of Dang on May 9. In a statement on Friday, the ANPCF said Khadka was arrested on false charges and tortured. The ANPCF has demanded immediate and unconditional release of Khadka. — HNS
