Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued show cause notices to the government authorities on why they have been discriminating women while recruiting police personnel. A single bench of justice Badri Kumar Basnet today issued notices to the Home Ministry, Police Headquarters and Kathmandu Valley Police Office. — HNS

Om Bikram Rana is AIG

KATHMANDU: Deputy inspector general of police Om Bikram Rana has been promoted to the post of additional inspector general of police (AIG). A recently-held cabinet meeting promoted Rana to the post. Posts of two AIGs were lying vacant for about a month after the cabinet approved to keep five AIGs in the force. — HNS

Pokhara: Business centres and industries in the Pokhara have been affected because of disruption in electricity supply.
