CIAA case against teacher
KATHMANDU: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case at the Special Court against Namdev Adhikari, a teacher of Kalika Primary School, Pelakot, Syangja, alleging that he had submitted a counterfeit certificate of having passed high school examinations from the High School Education Council, Uttar Pradesh, India, for getting appointment to the post. CIAA has so far filed cases against 146 persons for allegedly producing fake educational certificates. — RSS
Meet on land records
KATHMANDU: Participants of a seminar on work plan on the update of land records held here on Thursday have said that people have to face difficulties due to lack of updating of the land records in the country. There are no records of public and government owned land across the country, dual registrations abound and the state has not been able to collect revenue from the land, participants said. Keeping in view these problems, the department of land reform and management has started computerising land records, the department has stated. — RSS
Poetry festival held
KATHMANDU: National Poetry Festival 2061 was held here on Wednesday on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the Royal Nepal Academy. At the festival, sixty-six poets participated in the poetry competition. National Poet, Madhav Ghimire, inaugurating the festival said that the poets should have the opportunity to express the agony suffered by the nation. — RSS
Maiti Nepal training
BHAKTAPUR: A week-long training programme conducted by the Technical Training Institute, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, for field coordinators of various 10 districts of Maiti Nepal concluded here on Wednesday. Twenty-six persons took part in the training organised with the objective of raising awareness of the communities against girl trafficking, methods of its prevention and ensuring coordination with various segments of the society and the community in this connection. — RSS
