Nawalparasi, June 6:

A large quantity of explosives has been seized at Dhurkot Village Development Committee in Nawapalrasi’s Ward No 9. The haul was made public at a press conference organised here today.

A joint patrolling team of the Kawasoti area police office and the Nayabelahani seized the explosives following a tip-off. According to DSP Keshav Raj Bhattarai, the explosives — a hand grenade and 66 socket bombs — were seized from a cowshed belonging to one Surya Bahadur Thada Magar.

While locals said these explosives may be hidden by Maoists during the insurgency, police have doubts about it, Bhattarai said.
