Siraha, June 6:
Normal life in most of the districts in the Tarai region was affected today, the last day of the three-day bandh called by the Madhesi Tigers (MT).
The group had called the bandh as a mark of protest against the killing of an MT cadre in Siraha district.
Academic institutions, business centres and factories remained shut in Siraha district. Golbazaar, Lahan, Mirchaiya and other bazaars in the district also remained shut.
MT cadres vandalised a Toyota vehicle in Inaruwa, Sunsari’s district headquarters. “MT cadres vandalised a vehicle (Ko 1 Cha 1812) belonging to Kamdhenu Dairy,” said DSP Mukti Shrestha at the Sunsari district police office (DPO). Academic institutions, factories and bazaars remained shut in Rautahat, while vehicles stayed off the roads there.
In Bara district’s headquarters Kalaiya , most shops and academic institutions remained shut.
Life was also hit in Mahottari, Dhanusha and Sunsari, among other districts in the region.
