Nepali victims nab swindler in Delhi

New Delhi, June 14:

One Tej Bahadur Gurung, who was at large after swindling over Rs 1 million from different Nepalis was caught by victims in New Delhi today.

Gurung had promised employment for the persons in Japan.

He was caught at Pahadgunj and now held at Hotel Cell, one of the victims, Surya Karki, told this daily.

Karki, Chitra Bahadur Thapa and Bal Bahadur Budhathoki, who paid Gurung Rs 7 lakh each, had travelled to New Delhi to look for Gurung.

The victims wrote a letter to the Nepalese Embassy here today seeking advice on how the swindler could be punished while in India.

The embassy said Gurung cannot be deported to Nepal as there is no extradition treaty between the two countries, Karki said. “They were here with evidence against Gurung. But I told them Gurung cannot be extradited,” an official at the embassy said.
