New Delhi:

New Delhi based Adrohit Publications has published a book entitled Maoist Movement in Nepal: A sociological Perspective, on the Maoist movement in Nepal and its sociological

perspective.

The book written by a PhD student at Delhi University Uddhav Pyakurel has looked into the sociological reasons behind the Maoist movement.

The books concludes that the discriminatory practices of government in various issues including religion, race, community, sex and languages, directly or indirectly helped in the emergence of the 11-year conflict in Nepal.

The book has also included the views of different intellectuals on the Maoist movement with analysis.

Though Pyakurel is himself a student, he has made a good attempt by writing the book describing different aspects of the Maoist movement.

The book describes Madhesi agitation, general understanding of people on the Madhesi agitation, the reasons behind making Nepal a Hindu state, and the Shah dynasty.

It also talks of the 40-point demand submitted by the Maoists before launching

the armed struggle; 12 points of agreements reached between the Maoists and the seven parties in New Delhi, and the agreements made with the UN.

The book has good analysis on how the Maoists are successful in getting the ruling power by raising the issues related to race, language and sex.
