Agriculture minister wants govt talks team reshuffled

Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Chhabi Lal Bishwokarma today said that talks with the agitating parties will not be successful until the government talks team is reshuffled.
He also claimed that the talks with the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) and Chure Bhawar were inconclusive because of lack of homework.
Inaugurating the second convention of Press Chautari-Kavre in Banepa, he said: “Instead of trying to find an amicable solution, the coordinator of the government talks team shouts as if he were a spokesperson.”
For solving the problems in the Tarai, talks should be held with the agitating parties in the Tarai as soon as possible in view of the upcoming constituent assembly (CA) elections, so that it could be held in a free and fair manner, Bishwokarma said.
Speaking on the occasion, CPN-UML Bagmati zonal coordination committee member Bidur Sapkota, CPN-UML Kavre district secretary Gokul Banskota and member Ashok Byanju, CPN-UML central publicity department member Bishnu Rijal, member of the Press Chautari secretariat Rajendra Fuyal, chairman of the Kavre FNJ Ishwori Ojha, district president of Nepali Congress-D Tartha Pasakhala denounced the obstruction created by Maoist-affiliated cycle boys in the publication and distribution of The Himalayan Times and Annapurna Post. They said that the issue should be resolved through talks.
The convention also elected a new 11-member executive board under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Parajuli. Dayaram Mahat, Purna Chandra Sigdel, Moti Ram Timilsina are its vice-chairman, secretary, treasurer, respectively.
Pabitra Bhurtel, Radhika Gelal, Dipak Sapkota, Rekh Bahadur Rekhal and Ramhari Shrestha are the members.
