Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) are jointly organising the Inter-municipality Cup football tournament from August 11 to September 1 at Pokhara Stadium in Pokhara.
In all, 38 of the total 58 municipalities are taking part in the tournament, said the organisers at a press meet today. The participating teams include eight from Eastern, 13 from Central, 10 from Western, four from Mid-western and three from Far-western regions. The KMC has sponsored the prize money of one million rupees, while the hosts Pokhara Municipality will bear the other expenses. ANFA will provide the technical assistance.
The winner will be richer by Rs 400,000 while the runners up will receive Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively. The fourth-placed team, along with best five individuals — forward, midfielder, defender, goalkeeper and the best player of the tournament — will get Rs 50,000 each.
A 41-member main organising committee under KMC Executive Officer Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has been formed for the grand success of the tournament. ANFA joint secretary Dhirendra Pradhan is the member secretary of the committee.
