Dhankuta, August 16:
Two students sustained minor injuries in a clash between the activists of the All Nepal National Independent Student Union-Revolutionary and Nepal Students’ Union at Dhankuta Multiple Campus today.
ANNISU-R students vandalised the NSU office, torched the party’s flag and thrashed the NSU-Democratic affiliated student, Mahesh Nepali. In retaliation, NSU and NSU-D students beat up ANNISU-R campus unit chairperson Madhav Timilsina, students said. Police said security had been beefed up in Dhankuta bazaar area after the incident.
A report from Bara said that a person held by the Young Communist League cadres was released today.
“Mahendra Yadav of Bara’s Tedhakatti was nabbed by our area no 1 cadres for his involvement in criminal activities in the area,” alleged YCL’s Bara district unit president Ranjit.
He claimed that the criminal activities had shot up as other political parties had failed to control their cadres. While Yadav claimed to have association with the NC-D, the locals believe he is a JTMM cadre, Ranjit said.
Meanwhile, also in Bara, the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Goit) cadres torched a bus for defying its bandh call today.
