New OHCHR chief

KATHMANDU: New chief of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Nepal, Richard Bennett, will arrive on Tuesday to assume his office here. He is succeeding Lena Sundh. — HNS

EC grants permission

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission on Sunday granted permission to 43 national organisations for observing the Constituent Assembly election scheduled for November 22. Those organisations who have got the commission’s go-ahead include NGO Federation Nepal, Nepal Bar Association, National Dalit Commission Nepal, Women and Environment Council, Karnali Unified Village Development and Investigation Centre, Madhesi Dalit Development Federation, Matadata Sangh, National Election Observation Committee Nepal, Human Rights and Peace Academy Nepal, Democratic Press Club, Democracy and Election Network Nepal, among others. — HNS
