A shortage of petroleum products is hitting the east as a landslide occurred on a main supply route in India and caused disruption in fuel supply.

Twenty-five tankers of the NOC Biratnagar, loaded with fuel, have not been able to enter Nepal through the Barauni checkpost as the road at the Pichara area has become inoperable due to the landslide, said head of the NOC Biratnagar office Arjun Prasad Singh.

Meanwhile, a report from Birgunj said the indefinite strike of the Nepal Tanker Drivers’ Association (NTDA) continued after a nine-hour talkathon between the Janakpur Petroleum Products Suppliers’ Association (JPPSA) and representatives of the drivers ended in an inconclusive note today when the JPPSA said it could not meet the demands of the drivers to reinstate six sacked tanker drivers.
