The Rastriya Prajatantra Party intends to tell the government in categorically that its constituent elements must share a common agenda if the current government is to achieve the task of holding peace talks and conducting elections.

“The time has come to tell the government to either stick to a common agenda or risk failure,” said RPP spokesperson, Roshan Karki, shedding light on the proceedings of the party’s central committee meeting today.

The agenda of the meeting includes reviewing the outcome of the recently-held meeting of the central council, reassessing the political scenario in the light of spiralling violence and reinforcing the need to tell the government to put its act together.

While the government came in for scathing criticism from central members, including Deepak Bohara, Prem Bahadur Bhandari and Dirgha Shrestha, former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand talked about efforts to avert the split in the party following a walkout by former party president Surya Bahadur Thapa.

Reacting to questions on the RPP’s efforts to bring back Thapa and others, Karki said that the party is “pretty confident that they will come back since they, too, are not happy after walking out in a huff.”
