Inmates on strike for general amnesty

Rajbiraj, September 24:

Demanding general am-nesty, prisoners of the Rajbiraj jail staged a strike today.

Rajendra Mandal, Suraj Marik, Dharmendra Meheta, Sahadev Sardar, Mahendra Shah, Jagadish Bhagat,

Karna Rai Devraj Yadav, Dinesh Ram and Sachib Sada are staging the strike under the coordination of Kameshwor Shah.

The prisoners will be forced to stage a fast-unto-death if our demand is not met within five days, coordinator of the Prisoners’ Struggle Committee, Musharu Miya, said.

There are 64 prisoners

and 66 detainees in the Rajbiraj jail. Detained siblings Manoj Yadav and Ram Kumar Yadav, accusing the court of delaying to issue verdict in their cases, are on a fast-unto-death for a week. Condition of the Yadavs is deteriorating, the jail administration said.
