Dhankuta, September 25:

Tilak Bahadur Khadka, a driver, and Tej Bahadur Basnet, a peon, in the Housing and Urban Development Division office at Dhankuta have allegedly not been paid salary for the past two months.

The two employees were hired on contract basis in the office. They alleged that Kabindra Bahadur Bist, chief of the office, sacked them from the jobs.

“Bist also forced me into police custody,” peon Basnet said.

Bist conceded that salary of the duo had been delayed but denied sacking them from the jobs. “I had gone to Kathmandu for medical treatment, so the salary was delayed,” Bist said, adding, “Basnet was taken into police custody for investigation because the television set in my office was missing.” Basnet said the television belonged to engineer Ambadutta Joshi and that he had taken it away with him after he was transferred.
