Night of music

By Himalayan News Service

Kathmandu:

It is going to be a memorable evening at Yak and Yeti on October 5. It’s the evening of Women in Concert Part V, which will raise funds for the Sewa Kendra Leprosy Relief.

Eleven women from different walks of life will be performing at the concert, which is a platform for many to launch their musical careers.

Rajat Rai (guitar), Jatin Pradhan (guitar), Sonam Lama (bass guitar), Abhishek Bhadra (key board) and Antonio Pax (drums) are the musicians who will be accompanying the singers.

The event is organised by Initiative International, sponsored by Tuborg, managed by Wiz International with The Himalayan Times as the official print media.

Arati Gurung

She is a new name in the music industry, but for her music is something that has been in the family. Daughter of Sukmit Gurung and sister of Yankey Ongmu Lepcha, Arati just completed her plus-two from Xavier Academy. Though she has performed couple of times during college functions, WIC is going to be her platform for musical debut.

Sister’s suggestion

Inspired by her mother and sister, Arati got into music at a very young age. Her sister Yankey had been participating for WIC and this year she advised Arati to participate

as well.

“I am really very excited that my talent is being showcased for being part of such a big event. The cherry on top is that it is being organised for charity,” she says.

Practicing everyday with all the participants is very much fun and everyone is cooperative, which makes the whole experience very interesting, she adds.
