KATHMANDU:

It was a treat for music lovers at Kumari Hall on the last day of Film South Asia, which had a special screening of music videos from Nepal, India and Pakistan for the Film South Asia - Music Video Festival. The different kinds of songs and videos from each country had were showcased. Farjad Nabi curator for Music Videos — The View from Lahore showed the music scenario in Pakistan, songs with strong energetic music along with some satirical political videos, animated ones and pop and folk songs as well.

The Bombay Outlook had songs that we have been watching and singing for many years — right fr-om songs like Made in India to remixes such as Pardesia. Besides these, videos which started a new trend like Mumbhai and some in regional languages with strong messages were also presented. And of course the famous Vande Mataram in various versions were also shown. The curator for it was Parmita Vohra And our own Nepali top 10 videos were also shown, which were chosen by Suraj Singh Thakuri and Asif Shah. While most videos were ones we’ve liked and felt deserved to be on the list, some undeserving ones had also made their way, which was a bit of a disappointment.

It was followed by screening of some new videos. Some fresh and good, some like the same old stuff we’ve been watching over and over again. The songs had been compiled by Gaurab Dhunju, Asim Chitarkar and Anup KC and was interestingly presented Yanik Shrestha.
