China to provide 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Nepal

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 6

China is to provide 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Nepal on grant basis, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) stated.

According a press release issued by MoFA, State Councillor and Foreign Minister of People's Republic of China Wang Yi has announced the same and stated that China would accord priority to Nepal in vaccine cooperation.

Nepal's Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi held a telephonic conversation on Friday evening and discussed the matter.

Matters of mutual interests were further discussed during the conversation, stated MoFA, in addition to the subject of vaccine cooperation.

FM Gyawali thanked the Chinese Government for the vaccine support and appreciated China's stance to make it a global public good.
