Nepal finish 17th in bowling
KATHMANDU: Nepali bowlers finished 17th in the second Asian Indoor Games in Macau on Tuesday. In the men’s doubles event, Raj Kumar Ranjit and Tik Bahadur Gurung averaged 202.17 and 193.50 respectively leaving behind 20 countries. Raj finished with a total of 1213 pinfalls scoring 223, 165, 193, 219, 224 and 204 in six games, while Tik accumulated 1161 pinfalls scoring 165, 193, 179, 204, 201 and 204. — HNS
Kathmandu Marathon on Nov 3
KATHMANDU: Nepal Athletics Club is organising the second International Open Kathmandu Marathon and 5km race on November 3. The race will start from Basantapur and will end at the same point after going through Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square, said the organisers at a press meet on Tuesday. The organisers are expecting 100-150 runners in marathon and about 1,000 in 5km race. The top three winners in marathon will get Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. — HNS
Judo team to go to India
KATHMANDU: A 25-member judo team is leaving on Wednesday for India to take part in the first Asian Youth Judo Championship and eighth Asian Junior Judo Championship to be held in Hyderabad from November 5-7. In all, 20 players will take part in 20 different weight categories. The players for the youth championship are Pawan Rana Magar, Tej Bahadur Budhathoki, Bijay Lama, Santosh Sundas, Suprasiddha Tamrakar, Rabin Shrestha, Kaushalya Rai, Asmita Sunuwar, Sunita Magar and Sujana Majumdar. The players for the junior championship are Sanju Rai, Sushila Adhikari, Lila Adhikari, Ranju Rai, Kavita Pun, Indira Rai, Saroj Maharjan, Trishna Gurung, Ravi Chaudhary and Sunil Sahani. — HNS
