Mahato slams EC
Rajbiraj: Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandidevi) leader and former minister Rajendra Mahato on Wednesday accused the Election Commission (EC) of conspiring to prevent his party from contesting the CA polls. Speaking at a press conference here, Mahato claimed that the EC gave its verdict in favour of the group led by Anandi Devi Singh although his faction had a majority in the party central committee. —HNS
Shut mill to reopen
BIRATNAGAR: Raghupati Jute Mills lying closed for a week is set to reopen, with workers seeing eye-to-eye with the management and relenting. Mill manager Mahendra Golchha said that the decision to reopen the Mill was taken after talks between the two sides that started on Tuesday. Five workers’ unions affiliated to the All Nepal Mazdoor Sangh had closed the Mill. — HNS
Curfew lifted
Rupandehi: The curfew, clamped since Tuesday after a clash between jeep and bus entrepreneurs in Arghakhanchi’s Sandhikharka, has been lifted, the District Administration Office said on Wednesday. Girl abducted
ITAHARI: A gang kidnapped a 21-year-old girl at Sunsari district’s Haripur-9 on Tuesday. The abductee was identified as Rosy, daughter of Rabindra Nath Dev of Haripur VDC-9. Dev accused Shatrudhan Sardar, Shanker Poudel, Kishor Sardar of Sunsari and Arun Kumar Kurmi of Birpur, India, and Gopal Bhagat of Supaul, India, of involvement in the abduction. — HNS
