Kathmandu, November 9:

The Metropolitan Police Sector, Durbargmarg, arrested five persons with three pistols, four magazines and 13 unused bullets from Jyatha, Kathmandu last night, the police said.

Those arrested are Laxman Pathak, of Kavre, Dipak Basnet, of Gulmi, Hari Shrestha, of Dolakha, Bishnu Kumar KC, of Bhojpur, and Rajesh Ghalani, of Chitawan.

Inspector at the police station Ramesh Thapa said that the five persons were arrested with two US-made pistols, one country-made pistol and ammunition.

The arrested persons are learnt to be running an arms supply racket for a few months. “It is learnt that they already sold one pistol to somebody,” inspector Thapa said.

“We arrested them after days of chasing following a tip-off that they were running an arms supplying racket and involved in looting and kidnapping cases,” he added. Thapa said that most of those arrested are on the wanted list of the Nepal Police.
