Itahari, November 13:

Speaker of the interim Parliament Subas Nembang today said the seven parties have no alternative to going ahead with the two proposals passed by the special session of the parliament for a republic and an all-out proportional electoral system for CA polls.

Nembang, who arrived in Itahari to inaugurate the Purwanchal Festival, said the parties should put their differences of opinions aside and go to the people with a united voice.

He also suggested the parties to sort out the differences through discussions in the closed-door meetings.

Saying that the peace process, the interim constitution, the parliament and the past agreements should be the basis of solutions to new differences, Nembang said the nation is at a crucial mode at present.

Claiming that there is no one against the democratic republic in the parliament, he said: “The proposals passed by the parliament should be implemented and the parties should stand united to amend the interim constitution.”

The point for agreement will be explored as soon as the winter session of the parliament begins on November 19, he said.

Saying that a new date for CA polls must be fixed at the earliest, Nembang said the polls should not be postponed again.

Saying that it has been realized that criminal activities have increased during the Tarai agitation, he said that CA polls are necessary to find solutions to all kind of problems in the country.

He stressed on the need to address the genuine demands of agitating Tarai groups through talks.

He also expressed commitment to draw the attention of the government to implement the Working Journalists’ Act, which was passed by the parliament a few months ago.
