Polls are unsure, but interactions go on

Kapilvastu, November 17:

Women in five VDCs of Kapilvastu have been continuing interactions on CA elections which have been put off indefinitely following differences within the seven parties.

They have been carrying out interactions aimed at raising awareness on CA polls, which have already been postponed twice. Some 30 women from Hathausa, Kopawa, Jahadi, Niglihawa and Gajehada VDC and women from various groups have been continuing the interactions, which were launched in May, targetting CA polls set for June.

The women have been giving continuity to the interactions, with the hope that the polls will be held one day after all.

“We are discussing broadly on how the marginalised people including dalits and women can contribute to and benefit from the CA elections,” said Laxmi Sunar, president of the Juneli Mahila Samuha.

“I got a better understanding on many things about CA election by attending these interactions,” said Phulmaya Pasi.

The women taking part in the interactions demanded a firm commitment from the parties to hold the polls at the earliest and create peace and security for the same.
