NFLC team meets PM

KATHMANDU: A delegation of the Nepal Factory Labour Congress (NFLC) on Saturday met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at his residence and handed over a memorandum. The NFLC has demanded that the labour commission as mentioned in the Interim Constitution for protecting labourers’ rights be formed, law and order be maintained in the country and date for election of constituent assembly election be declared, its press release stated. — HNS

Online media award

KATHMANDU: The Online Media Association Nepal (OMAN) on Saturday decided to honour one online news portal and one online journalist with awards of ‘Best Online Journalism Award’ every year. A release issued by the OMAN said that the award will consist of a plaque and a purse of Rs 5,001. The OMAN also said it will start a campaign to form chapters in the country and will form a OMAN Coordination Committee. “Tilak Malla-headed committee is formed to publish a bi-monthly bulletin.”— HNS

Institutes’ meeting

KATHMANDU: A gathering of owners of educational institution of the Valley held here at the Nobel Academy on Saturday has decided to gherao Singha Durbar on Monday. The gathering has also decided to make its decisions public organising a press meet on Sunday. During the meeting, participants demanded that the “serial attacks” on educational institutions should be ended, educational institutions should be declared zone of peace and their investment should be secured. — HNS

Club’s new committee

KATHMANDU: The annual general meeting of Bansbari Club situated in KMC-3 on Saturday elected Mukunda Prasad Acharya as president of its working committee. The club’s release said Prem Thapa is elected as first vice-president, Rajesh Shrestha as vice-president, Raja Ram Dhakal as general secretary, Madhu Sudan Upadhayay as secretary and Basnata Gharti Magar as treasurer. The meeting also elected Sunil Shankar Shrestha, Ram Krishna Karki, Dipendra Manandhar, Tejendra Lama, Badri Prasad Kuikel and Prakash KC as its members. — HNS

Yoga camp starts

BHAKTAPUR: A Yoga camp has kicked off on Saturday at Bhaktapur Durbar Square with the theme of doing yoga for a healthy life. Around 500 yoga practitioners attended the camp organised by Shuvakamana Samuhik Yoga Centre. Inaugurating the camp, senior yoga teacher Lalit Shanker Yogi said yoga is essential to bring peace, love and harmony in society. He stressed that every citizen has to practice yoga regularly for mental peace and harmony. — RSS
