Kathmandu, December 3:

Ministry of Foreign Affairs today said Nepal embassy in Islamabad of Pakistan would issue travel documents for Arjun Shahi, one of the 10 detainees in Afghanistan for his trip to Nepal.

According to the ministry, the embassy in Islamabad confirmed Arjun Shahi, Rabin Ojha, Shankar Lal Gurung and Om Bahadur Bhandari were arrested from Jalalabad for trying to illegally enter Afghanistan. “Shahi has been released and is now under International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) protection in Kabul,” stated a press statement issued here today.

Other detainees however, have been taken to Kabul and are still detained there. Meanwhile, the ministry said the Nepali embassy in Islamabad has also informed that Almco Group lawyer is still effortful to secure the release of detained nine Nepali who are now in Al-Rustamia Jail (Military College) in Baghdad. They had been arrested in Iraq in connection with an investigation over a bomb blast.

“The company expects them to be released in next couple of days,” stated a release.

The hostages are said to have been well taken care of.
