Pokhara, December 5:
Chinese envoy to Nepal Jheng Xianglin has said that the political parties need to become responsible to end the political stalemate in the country.
Talking to journalists at a press conference organised by Nepal-china Academy here today, envoy Xianglin said that since the interest of the nation and people are uppermost, all problems should be resolved after talks.
Recalling that the visiting Chinese delegation recently met leaders of political parties and high-ranking officials, he said the delegation also conveyed the same message to them at the meeting to end the political deadlock.
Replying to a query of The Himalayan Times on the Maoists’ demand to declare republic prior to the CA polls and full proportional electoral system, he said China has no prescription of its own in this regard.
“These are purely matters to be decided by the Nepalese and internal matters of Nepal,” he
said. However, he did not say anything about the CPN (Maoist).
Saying that China is well aware of the petroleum crisis faced by Nepal, he said China is positive to supply petroleum products to Nepal.
“We can supply petroleum products to Nepal,” envoy Xianglin said. However, experts should conduct a feasibility study and Nepal should officially state the demands.
