What’s broken
The road section from Pradarshani Marga to Khasibazaar has been in a dilapidated state since years. Local shop owners said their business has been badly affected due to the waterlogged potholes in front of their shops.
Vehicle plying on the road splash polluted water at pedestrians, damaging their clothes. Shankar Budhathoki, a motorcyclist who uses the road daily, said nobody’s attention has been drawn at the pathetic condition of the road. Besides the shop owners and drivers, students coming to many colleges located in the area and patients coming to the Kathmandu Model Hospital have been suffering from the poor condition of the road.
Who’s responsible
A project to maintain the Adwait Marga that stretches from Putalisadak to the Old Bus Park has already been approved, but the work has been halted due to the winter season, said Basudev Aryal, Secretary at Ward No 31, KMC .
Though no work has been carried out for the maintenance of the road from Khasibazar to Pradarshani Marga, we will maintain it as soon as the work on Putalisadak-Bus Park stretch completes. He said work on these roads would begin by March.
