Kathmandu:
With music, dances and professional plays, the evening of December 27 was indeed a treat for all gathered at the Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi. The programme entitled, ‘Shikhar Shoe Ramailo Sanjha’ boasted of a play each by the popular Nepali TV soaps Tito Satya and Jire Khursani teams and musical session by a number of leading Nepali folk and popular singers.
The programme kick-started with comedian Jitu Nepal, better known as ‘Jitu Mundre SLC pass’, giving the audience bouts of laughter with his ‘modern’ remix songs and constituent assembly elections spoofs. Nepal was definitely well equipped with a variety of contemporary issues that included sense-defying advertisements, politics, and gas shortages, to spur riotous laughter among the audience.
Leading Nepali singers like Yamanta Sharma with his Maya Garchu Bhanne Le, Ramchandra Kafle with his remix rendition of the good old Kala Kurtaile earned massive responses from the audience. Not to forget performance was Komal Oli’s Poilo Jana Paun, which the male audience really enjoyed. The dances staged by various amateur and professional artistes, however, were definitely not what you would call amazing.
The Jire Khursani team staged their earlier hit skit Emergency Ward with some modifications, which tried to show how ‘Mother Nepal’ is hurt by the ongoing turmoil in the country. The play by Tito Satya team too had a similar theme, where Deepak Raj Giri and Rabi Dangol ‘Baimaan’ acting as belonging to different parties tried to force each other to accept their views. But in the end they are urged to unite for the nation’s sake.
The charity programme for Nepal Budokaido Full Contact Association was organised by Key Entertainment Private Limited and the main sponsor was Shikhar Shoes.
