Kailali triumph

MAHENDRA NAGAR: Kailali and Bara advanced to the quarter-finals of the 10th National Women’s Football Tournament on Friday. Bara trounced Kaski 15-0 and Kailali defeated Chitwan 2-0. Dipa Lama alone struck nine goals for Bara while Durga Adhikari scored three, Rajani Lama two and Tara Lama one goal. Also, Sunsari and Sarlahi played a 1-1 draw. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Host Gyan Niketan beat Cambridge International 64-19 in the boys’ section match at the seventh Gyan Niketan Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Friday. In other boys’ matches, Baba School edged past Don Bosco 58-48, Valley Public defeated Babylon 46-35 and Wilson overcame Teresa 45-20. In the girls’ section, Mahendra Bhawan beat Don Bosco 36-17. — HNS

BHAKTAPUR: Nepal Police beat Banepa Municipality 25-13, 25-17, 25-14 in the inaugural match of the fifth Nationwide Workers’ Cup Volleyball Tournament, organised by Youth Sports Group, on Friday. In other matches, Kavre Offset Press defeated Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Club 25-17, 25-19, 25-14. In all, eight teams are participating in the tournament. — HNS
